Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao has urged the Centre to announce the creation of a new railway zone with headquarters at Visakhapatnam without any further delay.

He raised the issued in Zero Hour in Lok Sabha today. There was a demand for new railway zone with Visakhapatnam as headquarters for almost a decade as the present Waltair Division was the highest revenue earner in ECoR. The total earnings of Waltair Division was Rs.6,280 crore and in 2013-14 about 50% of the total annual revenue of ECoR was from Waltair Division.

Post-bifurcation of the State, the formation of a new railway zone in the State has become a necessity as the headquarters of SCR is located in Secunderabad in Telangana State. Hence, Waltair Division should be integrated with the three Divisions of SCR and a new zone should be created in the State with Visakhapatnam as its headquarters.
