RTC introduces digital cards in 18 buses-special counters for Sabarimala pilgrims

APSRTC has today launched India’s first ‘open-loop inter-operable contact-less solution’, in public transport in the city buses.

The Near Field Communication (NFC) card was formally launched by Minister for Information and Technology Nara Lokesh on the sidelines of the Blockchain Conference in the city. The NFC card has been launched on the Kurmannapalem-Tagarapuvalasa-Vizianagaram route on a pilot basis on 18 buses on route No.111 and 111 V buses.

The advantage of the card is that passenger need not worry about small change or carrying cash. The card, which is similar to a debit or credit card has an atonal feature of NFC which enables payment without the need for entering the PIN or the card having to be inserted into the Point of Sale machine.

Special packages to Sabarimala:: RTC has established a special counter for Ayyappa devotees was inaugurated by the Executive Director (Vizianagaram Zone) A.Ramakrishna at the Dwaraka Bus station today in the presence of the Regional Manager G.Sudhesh Kumar. The corporation will be operating 5,6, and 7-day tours to Sabarimala offering different packages with a slight variation in the coverage of some temples en route with effect from November 15, 2017 to January 20, 2018.

Special buses will be operated to the ‘Pancharama Kshetras’ to enable devotees to visit the popular temples of Lord Siva in a single day during the auspicious ‘Kartika Maasam’.
