The Sahitya Academy, New Delhi will conduct a two-day Santali poetry festival at Community Hall, Ashoka Parak, Naushaktinagar on August 11 and 12.
Santali was recognized as a scheduled language in November 2003 by Parliament. Several tribals in Odisha, Jharkhand and West Bengal and adjoining areas speak the language. Noted Santali poet Arjun Charan Hembram will be the chief guest.
Santali Advisory Committee convener Gangadhar Hannsda will preside. Famous poet Madan Mohan Soren will deliver keynote address. On the second day, contemporary poems will be recited.
