State government widens the scope of SIT investigation in land scam

The State government on Saturday evening has widened the scope of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed to look into the alleged land scam in the district.

According to earlier orders, the SIT was asked to inquire into the issue of tampering of land records of both private and government lands. The deadline for receipt of the petitions by the SIT from the general public was scheduled to come to an end on the day.

With the revised order, the SIT would inquire into the charges made in the classification of lands (government and non-government land) in the revenue records and Web Land investigate all cases of assignments made to ex-servicemen and political suffers and where NO Objection Certificate have been issue for disposal and sale of land. The SIT would also probe all cases wherein government land had been grabbed and encroached by private persona and evolved by private individuals and institutions without due procedure.

Meanwhile, Anakapalli MLA Peela Govind Satyanarayana said that the allegation of land grab against him was baseless and the land in question belonged to his family. Addressing the media here today, he said SIT appointed by the government received a complaint form one V.Rajagopla Chandra claiming that the MLA and his family members had encroached over 47 acres of his land and 48.5 acres of government land at Ramavaram area under the Anandapuram mandal in the city.

The SIT had received as many as 2,553 complaints from the public as on Saturday evening. It may be recalled that the government has formed the three member SIT comprised Vineet Brijlal, DIG (Greyhounds), G.Srijana, Joint Collector of Visakhapatnam and Lanka Vijay Sarathi, Deputy Executive Officer of TTD was formed to look into the cases of land grabbing in Visakhapatnam.

It may be mentioned here that the CPI(M) Judicial probe sought into the land scam-Ayyanna Patrudu submits evidences.
