Virtual classrooms coming

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao said that after digital classrooms, it is now virtual classrooms. He said that several NRIs settled in the US, the UK and Sweden had come forward to the ‘Badi Runam Tirchukundam’ scheme in which the digital classrooms were launched. He said that 17 per cent of the State budget was being spent on education and infrastructure being improved with Rs.23,209 crore.

Jaladi award for Goreti, Ashok Teja

Poet and folk singer Goreti Venkanna and lyric writer Suddala Ashok Teja have been selected for the Jaladi National Award for 2017. HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao released a poster for the programme to mark the birth anniversary of Jaladi on August 9 at VUDA Children Arena where the awards will be given away.

CSR initiative

Gangavaram Port Limited as a part of its CSR activity distributed sewing machines to 50 women form Gangavaram village. They were also given training certificates. The women successfully completed training under the sixth batch. Gajuwaka MLA P.Srinivasa Rao distributed machines to the beneficiaries.

Blood donation camp held

The 198 Battalion CRPF organized a blood donation camp at Prahlad Kalyanamandapam in the city on Saturday. The camp was held in association with the KGH. District Collector Pravin Kumar inaugurating the camp lauded the initiative of the CRPF, SP (Rural) Rahul Dev Sharma. KGH Superintendent G.Arjuna appreciated the donors.

Fashion Week

A ‘fashion week’ was organized in the city on Saturday. Around 20 designers presented their collection as a part of the show where men and women from across the State donned the role of models and sashayed down the ramp. Focusing on the three themes-traditional, bridal wear and western wear – the models impressed the gathering by highlighting ‘Save environment’.

City skaters excel at Asian meet

Several skaters bagged award at the Asian Open Figure Skating Trophy-2017 held in Hong Kong. Priyam Tated from the city won bronze medal in junior men category. Another boy Pratham Tated stood fourth in the ranking in junior men category. M.Vishal Anand secured sixth rank in the sub junior category. The trophy saw participation by 193 representing 16 countries.
