Stone laid for works

Visakhapatnam East MLA Velagapudi Ramakrishna Babu laid the foundation stone for various developmental works to be taken up at an estimated cost of Rs.96.99 lakh at various places in GVMC on Tuesday.

Blood donation camp

A blood donation camp is scheduled to be held at the Government Institute of Chemical Engineering on Wednesday from 9am to 12.30pm. Principal B.Demudu said the camp would be held in association with A.S.Raja Voluntary Blood Bank. He said many volunteers were expected to contribute to the cause.

AU special drive examinations

The Andhra University is conducting special drive examinations for B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com., courses from September 6. The examinations will be conducted from 9am to 12pm and 2pm to 5pm. Details will be uploaded on http://www.aucoe.info.

Recruitment of Postal Insurance agents

Senior Superintendent of Post Offices, Visakhapatnam Division M.Hari Prasad Sarma said candidates in the age group of 18 to 65 years with SSC qualification can apply for the posts of Postal Life Insurance and Rural Postal Life Insurance agents. The filled in applications should be sent on or before August 18 and interviews would be conducted on August 24. Interested candidates should contact the Head Post Office for further details.

DCI bags two orders

DCI has bagged Rs.102 crore contract from dredging in Pussur channel in Bangladesh. A few days before, it secured a Rs.141.06 crore order for maintenance of dredging from Mumbai Port. DCI has been earning profits continuously since its establishment in 1976 to meet the dredging needs of the Indian Navy and the major ports has already signed an MoU with Riyada Group of Companies Bahrain to explore various operations in the Middle East.

Bangladesh Navy team visits ENC

Rear Admiral M.Saheen Iqbal, Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Material) Bangladesh Navy accompanied by a five-member delegation arrived here on a three-day visit to Eastern Naval Command on Monday. They held discussions with Rear Admiral Narayan Prasad, Admiral Superintendent, Naval Dock Yard, Visakhapatnam. Later, the delegation visited various work centres of the yard.
