Srikakulam:: As many as 600 patients attended the medical camp conducted in Pydibhimavaram in the district today. Ten super specialists conducted tests for the employees of various industries.

Lepakshi Craft Bazar from Monday

AP Handlooms Development Corporation Limited is getting ready to host a ten-day Lepakshi Craft Bazar at Viswapriya Function Hall from Monday. Handicraft products, sris and dress materials accessories from Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Jammu and Kashmir, New Delhi, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Telangana will be displayed at the venue. The exhibition will be inaugurated at 5pm on Monday and will remain open to public from 11am to 9am next day till December 20.

3,150 cases settled at National Lok Adalat

A record number of 3,150 cases disposed o and claims worth Rs.10 crore were settled at the National Lok Adalat on the district court premises on Saturday. Chairperson of District Legal Service Authority S.Damodar said 15 Benches were constituted on the district court premises comprising one judicial officer, an advocate and one social worker to take up the cases. Government pleader Talluri Ravi contributed immensely for the successful conduct of civil cases. Around 2,000 criminal cases were settled in the Lok Adalat. District Judge Jyotirmai is credited with achieving a hat-trick in receiving the largest number of cases in the State.

Bay Marathon on December 23

The second edition of Vizag Bay Marathon will be held on beach road on December 23 under the joint aegis of Disease Eradication through Education and Prevention and Prime Life Sports Association. Award for NGO founder

National founder and former member of AP State Commission for Protection of Child Rights S.Balaraju has been selected for the Swami Vivekananda and Sister Margaret Award-2017 for meritorious accomplishments and outstanding contribution to the communities. The award will be presented by Sister Margaret Foundation on December 21 in Kolkata. He will receive the award from the West Bengal Governor Kesarinath Tripati and Ramakrishna Mission assistant secretary general Swamy Bodhasrananda Maharaj.

Calendars released

The calendars brought out by Visakha Steel Employees’’ Union were released by RINL CMD P.Madhusudhan at Ukkunagaram. Union honorary president Padi Trinadha Rao said they had been printing the calendars regularly.

Training camp for adolescent girls

A training camp for adolescent girls was organized jointly by Mahila Action and UNICEF at Potti Sriramulu Kalyanamandapam, Kota Veedhi in the city today. According to Mahila Action cluster coordinator Y.Koteswara Rao, various issues like bringing down school drop outs, controlling child marriages and encourages innovative thinking were discussed during the camp.
