HSBC employees gesture

HSBC has tied up with Akshayapatra Foundation to support the latter’s activities like cutting vegetables and serving food to schoolchildren, supported by Akshayapatra. HSBC has also identified a few schools to prove them support in education and provide basic guidance on health and hygiene. As many as 100 HSBC employees participated in the voluntary activity at the Akshaya Patra Foundation on Wednesday.

ERP enabled online services in GVMC

Online applications can be made out and civic taxes paid on the Enterprise Resource Planning platform of GVMC. Municipal Commissioner M.Hari Narayan said in a press release that payment of property tax, vacant land tax, trade licence fee, make self-assessment of property tax, change of title and use (residential/commercial), revision petitions, tax exemption for ex-servicemen and servicemen and property tax sub-division and amalgamation can be made online using ERP.

Ganja seized from house

The City Task Force team raided a house at Cheruvugattu in Allipuram area and apprehended one woman Arasavilla Lakshmi and seized 19 kgs of dry ganja from her possession. In another raid, the CTF team intercepted two persons on the railway station road and seized 18 kgs of ganja that was being transported in an auto-rickshaw. The apprehended persons have been identified as Pangi Balaraju and Pangi Venkatesulu both residents of G.Madugula.

Land scam-five day police custody for Sankara Rao

Majji Sankara Rao, former rural Tahsildar who is one of the main accused in land records tampering cases at PM Palem, Madhurawada and Kommadi areas in the city was sent to five day police custody on Wednesday. The local court has granted the police custody of Sankara Rao up to July 16 following request by SIT that is investigating the land scam. The SIT has so far received a total of 112 complaints and found that the land records of over 396 areas were tampered.

Myanmar delegation on three day visit to ENC

Commander-in-Chief, Myanmar Armed Forces, Senior General Min Aung Hlaing and a 15 member high-level delegation is in the city on a three-day visit to Eastern Naval Command from July 11 to 13.The Senior General held discussions with Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of ENC Vice Admiral HCS Bishat on Wednesday.

Nepal urged to set up consulate in the city

Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman speaking as a chief guest at a one day workshop on Nepal-India trade organized by the Embassy of Nepal urged the latter to set up a consulate or at least a trade facilitation centre here. He pointed out that the Container Corporation of India had set up a logistics park here at a cost of Rs.500 crore and Vizag also enjoyed excellent rail connectivity. He urged the Nepal delegation to make use of the facilities.

Congress to stage ‘maha dharna’ on Friday

The APCC will stage a ‘maha dharna’ at Paderu on Friday holding the TDP government and the Chief Minister accountable for the death of Girijans following the outbreak of epidemics in the Agency areas of the district. The APCC president N.Raghuveera Reddy said in a statement that the dharna was against the indifference of the government to the plight of the tribal people.

AU certificate programme on GST

AU is ragging-free campus

AU VC G.Nageswara Rao said a central anti-ragging committee has been set up that is headed by the Vice Chancellor and comprising principals of all colleges, Registrar and one district judge and chief warden. Apart form this, there are college-level committees headed by principals of respective colleges and departments. GITAM B.Sc., (Nursing) entrance test on August 28

GITAM admissions director Prof.K.Narendra said that the entrance test for admissions into B.Sc., (Nursing) in GITAM school of Nursing will be held on August 28. The basic qualification for submission of application is the candidate should get 45% marks in intermediate or equivalent examination with science subjects. The top ten rankers will be given free education and from 11 to 20 ranks will get 50% waiver in fees. The students can download the applications from GITAM website www.gitam.edu and should submit by August 14.

13 posts sanctioned for Land acquisition department

The State government has sanctioned 13 posts for Land Acquisition department. The Revenue Principal secretary M.Ravichandra has issued orders for sanctioning posts for Land acquisition, rehabilitation and resettlement Authority. The posts are one presiding Officer, One Registrar, one Grade I Steno, one Deputy Tehsildar, two Senior assistant posts, four junior assistant posts, one record assistant, two office subordinate posts.
