Proposed draft bill of private schools Act opposed

At a round table organized here today, speakers opposed the proposed draft of AP Self-finance Independent Schools (Establishment and Regulation) Act, 2017 is aimed at promoting corporate schools and watering down the existing Right To Education. It adopted resolutions demanding that the expert committee should have on RTE activist and educationalist, the government should implement the RTE Act properly instead of promoting corporate schools, they said.

Mobile banking services launched

Visakhapatnam Port Trust Chairman M.T.Krishna Babu launched new mobile banking services at Kanaka Mahalakshmi Co-operative Bank at Akkayyapalem branch today. Bank founder chairman P.Raghunadha Rao said the bank had 22 branches in East and West Godavari, Krishna, Guntur and Vizianagaram districts. He urged the customers to download the bank app for using advanced facilities.

Awareness on soft skills

Principal of College of Pharmacy, AU D.Gowri Sankar has exhorted students to hone their soft skills. He was speaking at an awareness programme on soft skills held at the college, The trainers stressed the need to sharpen leadership qualities.

1,500 kg ganja seized and woman arrested

The Prohibition and Excise team led by Assistant Commissioner SVVN Babji Rao raided a house in Anurbha village of G.Madugula today and seized 1,500 kg of dry ganja. A woman identified as K.Kondamma was arrested and her two male associates B.Prasad and T.Laxman managed to escape. She was booked under the NDPS Act.

Homoeo medicines despatched to Agency areas

Homeopathy medicines for malaria and anthrax have been sent to the Agency area for distribution at medical camps in 11 mandals. They have been arranged by a few philanthropists and Ramakrishna Homoeo of Hyderabad according to CPI(M) district secretary K.Lokanadham.
