Green initiative by students

Students of St.Joseph’s College organized eco-friendly management of plastic by planting plants in synthetic containers on Monday. The NSS unit of the college along with members of the Green Nature Club participated.

IIID new executive

New executive of Institute of Indian Interior Designers, Visakhapatnam centre was installed on Tuesday. Aditya Kambhatla was elected chairman. Other elected members are Suresh Khanna, immediate past chairman, Sriramakrishna, chairman elect, Shobanadri, vice-chairman, Suresh Kumar, secretary and Phani Raju, treasurer. Executive members are Sri Harsha, Surekha, Raju Kasani and Vainita Dhawan.

Coast guard rescues nine fishermen

The Indian Coast Guard rescued nine fishermen when fire broke out on their vessel, Pachivalliamman, late on Monday night following explosion of LPG cylinder. The fishing boat caught fire off Maypadu Beach in Nellore and ICG Ship, Krishnapatnam received a distress call at around 7.30am. An interceptor coast guard boat was immediately despatched and another ship, Abheek, sailing close-by was diverted. Despite rough weather, the officials brought the fire under control.

Workshop concludes

Andhra University Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao has exhorted teachers to accord importance to values while discharging their duties. He was speaking at the valedictory of a workshop on ‘Geospatial technologies’ here on Tuesday.
