Office opened

The Institute of Marine Engineers, which had been operational in the city for over 40 years has opened its office and Facilitation Centre in the Department of Marine Engineering of Andhra University College of Engineer. AU Vice Chancellor G.Nageswara Rao handed over certificates to the candidates. Registrar V. Umamaheswara Rao, HoD of Marine Engineering VVS Prasad, honorary secretary of IMEI (Vizag) D.S.Anand were present.

Social media will play key role in next general elections

BJP IT wing AP State president Satya Murty said that social medial with its extensive reach has been making tremendous impact on people and it should be effectively utilized by the party leaders and party workers. He participated as a chief guest at an awareness meet on ‘social media’ organized by the BJP Visakhapatnam city unit. There are 25 crore Facebook users in the country of whom 16 crore were regular users who go through the FaceBook posts.

HRD Minister launches ‘Signature campaign’

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao today launched anti-drug signature campaign organized by Vay Foundation on beach road. He said a meeting was organized with educational institutions and corporate organizations to prevent the influence of drugs and task force was appointed by the State government. In the district, Excise department officials were asked to check the ganja transportation and its use. Centurion University VC GSN Raju expressed readiness to organize campaigns against drugs.

Telugu Dandu demands primary education in Telugu

In an effort to safeguard the mother tongue, ‘Telugu Dandu’ representatives said on Sunday in the State level meeting said that under GO.No.86/2003, all private and government schools, teaching of mother tongue is compulsory. They demanded the government to English medium can be introduced in primary schools along with mother tongue Telugu. They wanted the government to withdraw the proposal of making English as the prime language in primary schools by August 29, the World Telugu Language Day. A post card campaign is being launched. The coordinator Pavastu Phanisayana Suri, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, Guru Sashravadani Kadimella Varaprasad, Surapaneni Vijaya Kumar, Nagarjuna University former Vice Chancellor Balamohan Das and other participated.
