Work shop on quality assurance

A three-day workshop on ‘Development of culture for quality assurance’ got under way at Sankar Foundation Eye Hospital at Naiduthota on Tuesday. The workshop is aimed at outlining a strategic plan for implementation of activities for the next five years for assurance of quality and a step towards accreditation process of National Accreditation Board of Hospitals and Healthcare Providers.

Tax official clarifies on GST

The office of the Chief Commissioner of Central Tax and Customs, Central GST Visakhapatnam zone in a statement on Tuesday said suppliers can supply goods and services even to an unregistered person as it will not affect output tax liability or input tax credit. The department therefore requested all traders not to insist for registration of unregistered persons while supplying goods and avoid causing inconvenience while making the transaction.

CME on spine fractures held

A Continuing Medical Education (CME) programme on ‘Thoraco lumbar fractures’ was organized jointly by the Spine Society of Andhra Pradesh and North Andhra Orthopedic Association here recently. Around 225 orthopaedic and neuro surgeons from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Karnataka attended the meeting. Noted orthopaedic surgeon S.V.Adinarayana who was the chief guest briefed the rapid strides in the field of spine surgery and the need for orthopaedic surgeons to keep themselves abreast of the latest developments.

Scholarship distributed

Dr.Reddy’s laboratories distributed scholarships to about 121 meritorious students of seven Zilla Parishad High Schools at a programme organized at ZP High School, Gajuwaka on Tuesday. Trustee of Dr.Reddy’s Foundation Anuradha Prasad, vice-president head IR and CSR of the company V.Narayana Reddy distributed scholarships.

Sushruta Award

Sushruta Award of Association Surgeons of India was presented to Professor of Surgery and HoD of CTVS, KGH T.Narayana Rao in recognition of his service. He received the award form president of the ASI S.K.Misra at a programme held in Chennai recently.

ITI student allegedly abducted for ransom

A second year student of ITI was reportedly kidnapped on Monday and a ransom of Rs.15 lakh has been demanded from his family members. The kidnappers allegedly threatened to kill him if the parents failed to give the ransom money. An FIR has been lodged at Gopalapatnam police and teams have been formed to investigate and rescue the student. Based on the complaint from the victim’s parents, Inspector of Gopalapatnam K.Vykunta Rao formed special teams to rescue the victim from the clutches of the kidnappers.

HR meet at GITAM

GITAM University is holding a one-day HR conference on ‘Way forward to skill India-Challenges and imperatives’ on Thursday. IT Advisor J.A.Chowdary and CEO of Campgemini India Operations, Bengaluru, Srinivas Kandula will address the conference.
