Crude oil tank catches fire at HPCL
A crude oil tank in HPCL on Saturday caught fire after it was struck by lightning. According to HPCL officials, the lighting hit the tank at around 6.30pm and HPCL fire tenders rushed to the spot and brought it under control within an hour. However, there was no causality.
International Tiger Day celebrated
Organizations conducted various awareness programmes in the city on the occasion of International Tiger Day today. Indira Gandhi Zoological Park in association with Paryavarana Margadarsi Vaisakhi celebrated the day at the zoo with a rally, a talk on tiger conservation and a film at the zoo Bioscope. Tiger being an umbrella species, its presence indicates the health of terrestrial ecosystem and declining in tiger habitants indicates the depletion of life supporting systems for all living beings said zoo curator B.Vijaya Kumar.
EcoR holds grievance redress camp
A ‘grievance Redressal camp’ was organized by the Chief Personnel Officer (Admn) Prabhat of East Coast Railway to solve the grievances related to issues of the railway employees working in the Koraput-Kirandul section of Waltair Division at Koraput on Saturday. He reviewed more than 250 Service Records out of 575 Service Records they had carried with them in presence of the employees. The personnel branch officials clarified the doubts raised by the employees like salary, allowance, tax-related issues.
Drinking water facility inaugurated
Rotary Club Visakhapatnam Port City installed safe drinking water and hand wash facilities at the NMH GVMC High School. The club members also distributed notebooks to children. MLA P.Vishnu Kumar who was the chief guest distributed books to school children.
Mahaprasthanam vehicles flagged off
MLA Vasupalli Ganesh Kumar flagged off four 'Mahaprasthanam' vehicles allocated to the KGH on Saturday. These vehicles called as 'hearse van' will be used for transport of bodies of patients to their homes free of cost. KGH Superintendent G.Arjuna and AMC Principal P.V.Sudhkar were present.
