Seminar for exporters on GST

Federation of Indian Export Organizations of the Ministry of Commerce will organize a seminar on ‘Ready to Move to GST’ on June 23. Commissioner of Central Excise, Customs and Service Tax B.Hareram will inaugurate the seminar. The provisions dealing with registration, returns, valuation, place of supply, input tax credit and transitional aspects etc., will be discussed. Eye care project launched

MLA V.Ramakrishnababu has inaugurated School Eye Care project of VEBART Trust of Mohsin Eye Bank and Visakha Eye Hospital. VEBART Trust chairman AVN Chetty said students of GVMC schools would be examined under the project and if necessary, operations conducted and glass provided.

School building inaugurated

Rotary district 3020 governor SVS Rao today inaugurated the renovated building of G.V.Nilayam School at Scindia Colony. Hindustan Shipyard and Rotary Club Visakha Port City jointly renovated the building at a cost of Rs.25 lakh.

Cycles distributed to 100 girl students

MLA PGVR Naidu gave away ‘Chandranna bicycles’ to 100 girls studying in 10th class at the ZP High School at Gopalapatnam today. He said the free bicycles were being given to girl students to encourage them to compete with boys in education. He appealed to students to make use of the various welfare schemes launched by the government.

Collector wants stringent action against traffic violators

District Collector Pravin Kumar presiding over the District Road Safety Committee meeting here today has called for coordinated efforts to minimize road accidents by acting tough on traffic violators like over loading, over speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving without licences. He asked all departments associated with road safety to come out with plans to improve road safety along with the funds that would be required for implementation of the same by the next meeting. He asked the GVMC and police officials to make a joint survey for setting up of multi-level parking on the Beach Road.

Statue of Walchand Hirachand to be unveiled

The statue of Seth Walchand Hirachand, founder of the Hindustan Shipyard Limited will be unveiled on June 21 on the occasion of 76th Foundation Day. CMD Rear Admiral L.V.Sarat Babu will unveil the statue and address the gathering. Cultural programmes will be conducted at Lalita Kala Mandir on this occasion.
