Visalandhra book festival from November 4

Visalandhra Book House will organize its 17th annual book exhibition at Turner’s Choultry from November 4 to 21. With 75 publishing houses participating over 25,000 cities titles will be available according to Visalandhra Book House Manager. The exhibition will be inaugurated by Joint Collector G.Srijana on Saturday morning.

CII holds roadshow on building equipment expo

CII organized one of its multy-city roadshows on Thursday as a prologue to ninth edition of CII EXCON 2017. EXCON would be a unique opportunity to know about innovative equipment as an estimated Rs.1 lakh crore will be invested in mega infrastructure projects like roads and port-led development in the State in the next five years. The new technologies and innovations as reflected in the equipment/products displayed at EXCON-=2017 would aid in robust infrastructure growth in the country.

Bank takes out walkathon

Staff of Union Bank of India took out a walkathon from R.K.Beach to YMCA on Thursday to create awareness on weeding out corruption as part of Vigilance Awareness Week. The bank employees carrying placards and banners with messages like ‘say no to corruption’ created awareness among the people.

Youngsters duped by a consultancy firm

Around 120 youngsters on Thursday approached the IV Town police station demanding action against management of a job consultancy firm that allegedly duped them by collecting money in the name of providing employment in the city. According to ACP-Dwaraka Zone A.Ramachandra Rao, on October 30 around 20 youths approached Dwaraka Zone police and complained that a consultancy AV Tech in Dwarakanagar collected around Rs.20,000 to Rs.50,000 from each candidate claiming that they would provide jobs in Kuwait. After collecting money, the management has been absconding. The police have received the complaint and started investigation. They suspect that around Rs.2 to Rs.3 crore might have been collected from the victims.

Volleyball tourney begins

The Inter-School volleyball tournament for boys and girls was inaugurated by R.P.Srivastava, Executive Director or RINL at Ukku Indoor Stadium on Thursday. Twenty boy teams and eight girl teams are competing in the event.

HRD Minister opens Science Fair

HRD Minister Ganta Srinivasa Rao today inaugurated the APJ Abdul Kalam Zonal Science Fair at the Girijan Ashram School at Marikavalasa. He said that the government was spending Rs.23,200 crore on education and all infrastructure needs would be met. He went around the fair and interacted with the school students.
