New chairman of Institution of Engineers

RINL Assistant General Manager (HR) O.R.M.Rao took over as chairman of Institution of Engineers (India) Visakhapatnam chapter at its 41st annual general meeting held here today.

Call to wage war against corruption

Software Technology Parks of India Joint Director M.P.Dubey has said corruption is the main enemy to development. Participating in Vigilance Awareness Week programme conducted at Chegg India Private Limited, he said people should shun corrupt people and wage a war against corruption. Earlier, a pledge to fight against corruption among employees of Chegg India Private Limited.

Navy holds free medical camp

As part of Navy Day celebrations, a free medical camp was organized at Mandala Vikalangula Ashram Pathasala and nearby villages at Atchutapuram today. The camp was inaugurated by Command Medical Officer of ENC surgeon Rear Admiral Bijitesh Chakravarty and was aimed at providing comprehensive health check-up for detection of early stages of chronic diseases and giving basic medicines.

Yuvajana Yatra’ concludes

Addressing the conclusion of ‘Yuvajana Yatra’ organized by DYFI and SFI at the Gandhi statue at GVMC on Friday, former MLC and educationist K.S.Lakshmana Rao said that the Chief Minister was not being firm on special category status and not even able to obtain a good package in its lieu and the railway zone creation of employment suffered. Girijan University was still not functioning, he said. The North Andhra districts were facing backwardness in education and health and unemployment, he added.

Workshop on nano wires

The Department of Instrument Technology, AU College of Engineering is conducting a workshop on ‘Semiconductor Nano Wires for Optoelectronics Applications’ on Monday. Prof. Chennupati Jagadish of the Research School of Physics and Engineering, Australian National University will deliver keynote address.

Navy personnel donate blood

At a blood donation camp organized by INS Vishwakarma today as part of Navy Day celebrations, 90 Navy personnel, Defence Civilians and their families donated blood. The camp organized in collaboration with AS Raja Blood Bank was inaugurated by Commanding Officer of INS Vishwakarma Commodore Ajay Ghule.

Miraculous escape for bus passengers

Passengers of a private tourist bus had a miraculous escape on Friday when the vehicle hit the retaining wall and fell about 15 metres down the slope on the Paderu ghat road. There were about 28 passengers and four crew members including driver, when the accident took place. The driver sustained minor injuries said Paderu DSP Mahendra Mathe.

MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju faults Jagan’s padayatra

Visakhapatnam (North) MLA Vishnu Kumar Raju has faulted YSRCP president Jagan Mohan Reddy’s padayatra when the House would be in session which is scheduled to commence from November 10. ‘We are all elected representatives, and we have a moral responsibility to be present in the Assembly and take part in meaningful discussion in the interest of the State. By abstaining from the session, he is doing injustice to the people’, he said.
