Entrepreneurship Day

Dredging Corporation of India organized National Entrepreneurship Day jointly with the Department of MSME on Thursday. Addressing the youth, General Manager (marketing) VK Praviraj said that the government was providing ample opportunities to them to turn entrepreneurs and they should make good use of the opportunities. In comparison to the past, the government or external agencies were extending a lot of support to budding entrepreneurs.

Science Congress ends

Special workshops to students to bring them close to science should be organized in the Science Congress in future, former Director of National Institute of Nutrition B.Sasikaran has said. Speaking at the valedictory of the three-day AP Science Congress on Thursday, he said information technology distanced students from science. Endeavour also should be made to promote scientific temper among villagers.

Orientation for teachers

The three-day Quality Learning Initiative Orientation conducted for teachers of GVMC schools concluded today. Municipal Commissioner M.Hari Narayanan attended the closing programme. He said that the teachers should improve the understanding of the students by tapping their creativity and improving their skills. The orientation organized by GVMC and India Education Connectivity, New Delhi and 102 teachers from Zones II and III participated.

Roundtable to discuss student suicides

People for India – Visakhapatnam Forum organized a round-table today to discuss student suicides. Forum chairperson K.V.Ramana said the increasing suicide rate among students indicated the lacunae in the education system. The suicides are more among the students in corporate colleges. Mounting pressure to excel in academics coupled with failure to meet management’s and parent’s expectations, prolonged study hours and no avenue to relieve their stress are some of the reasons for the suicides. Former Union Energy Secretary EAS Sarma spoke on the occasion.

Unauthorized structures demolished

The City Planning Wing of GVMC today demolished three unauthorized structures at Gajuwaka. Two buildings against which action was taken were on Balacheruvu Road and one at Dibbapalem. Using crowbars and hammers workers removed the slab of a house. Assistant City Planner Sridevi said that action had been taken against around 20 buildings.

MP promises support to Brandix Apparel Park

Anakapalle MP M.Srinivasa Rao today said that the State government would extend its full support to the Brandix Apparel Park developed at Atchutapuram. He was speaking after inaugurating the second phase of solar power plant to generate 40,500 KWH units per year, LED street lights in non-processing area and a modern gym along with Yelamanchili MLA Panchakarla Ramesh Babu and ZP Chairperson Lalam Bhavani Bhaskar. All these facilities cost around Rs.one crore.
