‘Greyhounds training centre to come up here ‘, says DGP

Director General of Police N. Sambasiva Rao today said that the Centre had agreed to sanction and release Rs.400 crore for developing a full-fledged Greyhounds training centre in Visakhapatnam.

The Central government has given an assurance to support Left wing extremist States. The Government of Andhra Pradesh had sent a proposal to the Union Ministry of Home Affairs seeking funds for setting up of the Greyhounds training centre in the State. The Secretary, Union Home Ministry held a review meeting with representatives of Maoist affected States in New Delhi.

After the meeting, Sambasiva Rao said that the Union Government had agreed to give financial assistance of Rs.400 crore to set up the training centre in Visakhapatnam on the lines of the existing one at Premavathipet on the outskirts of Hyderabad.
