ACB conduct raids on two Town Planning officials

The officials of Anti-Corruption Bureau today conducted simultaneous raids on the properties of Director, Town and Country Planning Golla Venkata Raghu and Junior Technical Officer, Vijayawada Municipal Corporation Nalluri Venkata Siva Prasad.

The officials conducted searches of the two officials at 23 places and found nearly 10 kgs of gold ornaments, 15 acres, 26 house sites and houses, one lodge at Shirdi, 26 flats and other documents pertaining to them. According to preliminary estimates, the worth of the properties is said to be more than Rs.100 crore. They were booked under the Disproportionate Assets Case.

The ACB officials conducted raids in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra and on the houses of the kin of the two officers in Krishna, Guntur, Visakhapatnam and Hyderabad said ACB Director General R.P.Thakur at a press conference.

Raghu worked in different cadres in Nellore, Anantapur, Visakhapatnam, Rajamahendravaram, Vijayawada and Hyderabad and was currently posted in Guntur. The ACB officials seized two house sites registered in the name of Raghu at Gannavaram and Mangalagiri, one house site and 2.06 acres of agricultural land registered in the name of his wife G.Kalpa Latha at Gannavaram and Velpuru village in Krishna district. Two house sites were identified in the names of his daughter G.Sravanthi and mother-in-w B.Kalavathamma, said the ACB DG. He said that one duplex house and one lodge were identified at Shirdi besides Rs.9 lakh and other household articles all worth Rs.4.6 crore (government value).

The searches on the properties of Golla Venkata Raghu revealed 21 house sites in the name of Shivaprasad’s wife Chintamaneni Gayatri, two apartments at Gannavaram, three houses in Vijayawada, 11.65 acres in Krishna, East Godavari and Guntur district. About Rs.43 lakh, seven kg gold and diamond jewellery and documents related to five companies floated by the accused officers were found. The property was estimated at more than Rs.12 crore (registered value).
