BJP MLA P.Vishnu Kumar Raju and the party MLC PVN Madhav had alleged irregularities in the spending of funds by various departments nd vowed to bring them to light.

Speaking at a press conference today, Madhav said Utilization Certificates were submitted by the State government for Rs.774 crore stating that the MLA and staff quarters were nearing completion in Phase I. When asked where the quarters were, Minister for Municipal Administration P.Narayana took them to the site where construction was under way on the first floor. Later, an appendix was included stating that money had been spent on roads and pipelines, Madhav alleged.

Though Rs.1,500 crore was sanctioned for the construction of administrative capital, Rs.684 crore was spent on the transit capital, comprising the Assembly and the Secretariat in eight lakh sft. It worked out to be a whopping Rs.8,080 an sft, and Rs.11,000 an sft exclusively for the Assembly, he said. The government must order an inquiry into the issues to prove its honesty, he said.

CAG report pointed out diversion in several departments, he said. The BJP party would press for an inquiry into the spending of funds meant for the backward districts as well as MNREGS.

Vishnu Kumar Raju demanded a CBI inquiry into the recovery of Rs.14.22 crore as labor cess in the Pattiseema lift scheme and returning it to the contractor, pointing out the findings of CAG, he said. In Neeru-Chettu scheme the final payments were much more than the estimations.
