Nurses of KGH owing allegiance to the AP Government Nurses Association who are protesting for over a week demanding solution to their long pending problems threatened to go on strike from September 25, if the government fails to respond to their pleas.

G.Bhagya Lakshmi, APGNA State President and other leaders met the Minister for Health Kamineni Srinivasa Rao and apprised him of their problems when the latter visited the hospital. They told the Minister that while new blocks and specialties were being opened in the hospital, there was no proportionate increase in the number of nurses. They were being unduly overburdened due to acute shortage of staff. The Minister asked the association leaders to meet him on September 19 and assured them to strive to solve their problems.
