Rs.1,602 crore will be spent for implementation of Smart City Projects

GVMC Commissioner M.Hari Nrayanan has said that Smart City projects will be implemented over a period of five years with an outlay of Rs.1,602 crore.

He said that the State government has so far released Rs.394 crore. In his address after unfurling the tricolor at GVMC, he said that round the clock water supply, sewage treatment, smart cities, greens space development, underground electric cabling, prevention of erosion, development of the Beach Road and housing for all were the components. The Central and the State governments will contribute Rs.500 crore each, funds will be raised from other government departments too.

On the ranking, he said that city has improved from fie to three in 2018. It should first in the ‘Swachh’ survey organized by Municipal Administration and Urban Development department. With the installation of 1.07 lakh LED street lights, Visakhapatnam got recognition as the ‘City of lights at the national level, he said.
