A united struggle by all sections of workers in the motor transport sector took out an impressive rally under the aegis of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions from the Railway Station to the Gandhi statue demanding withdrawal of the Motor Vehicle (Amendment) Act that was introduced in Parliament.

The rally ended in a public meeting that was organized as part of the three-day All India conference of AIRTWF that began on Sunday. Addressing the participants, the speakers said that the three day conference would deliberate on the future course of action to be taken to oppose the Bill.

CITU national vice-president A.K.Padmanabhan said that the transport workers in Assam, Bihar and Kerala had taken to the agitation mode after April 30 nation-wide. He said that the Modi government was trying to promote Ambanis and Adanis at the cost of public sector.
