Blast in an RTC bus takes 18 injured
About 18 passengers on board travelling in an APSRTC bus from Visakhapatnam to Araku suffered minor injuries when a country made bomb reportedly went off on the bus. The incident took place near Dumuku village in Anantagiri mandal at around 8.20pm in the Agency. A police team rushed to the spot to take the investigation further.
ZP High School student wins global contest
Adi Lakshmi, Class VIII student of ZP High School, Revadi, Visakhapatnam emerged as one of the national winners of the digital global essay writing competition ‘The Golden Pen’. She received a Miko robot at a ceremony held recently. Organized by WNS Global Services along with its CSR wing WNS Cares Foundation last year, a total of nine winners received the robots which will be displayed at their respective schools.

1,620 kgs of dry ganja seized and five arrested
In another ganja seizure, the Narsipatnam Town police have seized 1,620 kg of dry ganja worth Rs.1.5 crore and arrested five smugglers when they were trying to ship the weed in a lorry near Ayyanna Colony in Narsipatnam on Monday. The arrested wee identified as Pujari Babu Rao, Konatahala Sathibabu, Vanthala Bondhu, Subhum Praveen Patil and Kuppiseeti Munemma. Police sources said three more accused were managed to escape.
MR vaccination campaign launched
A Measles and Rubella vaccination campaign for immunization of children was formally launched by HRD Minsiter Ganta Srinivas Rao at the GVMC NMC High School at TPT Colony, Seethammadara on Tuesday. The campaign being organized from August 1 to 8. A single vaccination can prevent both the diseases. Dr.Ramesh DM&HO said that there were 10,76,956 children in the age group of 9months to 15 years. The vaccine would be administered in 6,301 schools, 4,952 Anganwadi centres, 548 sub centres, 142 other centres and through 120 special teams in the district.
