Yoga event for special students

Seventy special students participated in performing ‘Surya namaskar’ yoga in the backdrop of rising sun at Omkar and Lions Educational Society for Deaf and Dumb, Lawson’s Bay Colony on Saturday. Art of Living Foundation organized the event. A presentation was made to explain as to how yoga was beneficial to people to all ages from various backdrops.

Training for drivers

A day long training programme for school bus drivers was conducted at Gayatri Engineering College, Kommadi today. The drivers were told about various aspects of safety, new technologies, road rules, First Aid and fire safety. As many as 250 drivers participated in the programme.

Students visit NDRF exhibition

The Regional Response Centre of the National Disaster Response Force has put up an exhibition of its equipment to create awareness among school children on its premises at Ukkunagaram today. Rasmil Baruah explained the visiting students about the various types of cutters o display and their use in cutting logs, fallen concrete structures and grills, hammers, air lifting bags to rescue victims trapped under debris, smoke ventilators, power blades and composite blades.

Seven Passport Seva centres to come up in the State

The Ministry for External Affairs has decided to establish seven Passport Seva Centres in the State. The centres will come up in Anantapur, Chittoor, Guntur, Krishna, Ongole, Rajamahendravaram and Srikakulam. The Passport sevas currently available in Kadapa, Kurnool and Nellore according to Regional Passport Officer NLP Chowdary.

High Court serves contempt notices to District Collector

Justice P.Naveen Rao of Hyderabad High Court has ordered for issuance of contempt notices to the District Collector Pravin Kumar in a case of demolishing of huts in violation of court orders. The case has been posted for four weeks. It may be recalled that the High Court has stayed the demolition of huts at Bharatnagar and the officials of GVMC had demolished in violation of court orders. The victims had filed a contempt petition in the high court resulting in the issuance of notices.
