The following will be prices for petrol and diesel on Friday. BPCL petrol Rs.70.70 per litre while diesel Rs.60.97, HPCL petrol Rs.70.73 and diesel Rs.61.10 and IOL petrol Rs.70.70 while diesel Rs.60.97.

Drive against ticketless travellers

Ticketless travellers drive was conducted by Divisional Commercial Manager (coordination) G.Suneel Kumar and assistant commercial manager S.Horo at Vizianagaram today and booked 465 ticketless travellers, irregular ticketholders and unbooked luggage. The check that commenced from 5.30am and continued till late in the afternoon. A total number 25 trains were checked and an amount of Rs.1,20,210 was realized towards fare and penalty. Nine unauthorized hawkers were also detected and penalized.

Ikat art mela gets underway

A five-day hand-woven eco-friendly handloom products-like art mela-2017 was inaugurated by Kambhampati Jayasree, wife of MP K.Haribabu at the Lions Community Hall at Ram Nagar from Thursday. Joint Collector G.Srijana participated in the inaugural function. The Expo will be open from 10am to 8pm till May 18.

Books distribution by Vizag Brahmin Welfare Society

Vizag Brahmin Welfare Society will distribute books to 1,200 students of LKG to PG as part of their annual programme. President of the society K.Charan Kumar said the endeavor would be supported by the representative of Vanamammali Mutt, Tirunalveli Tirumala Bharadwaj. The mutt’s pontiff Sri Ramanuja Jeer is expected to participate in the distribution programme at Port Kalavani auditorium on Sunday at 10am.

Vizag-Colombo flight to be operated four days a week

Sri Lankan Airlines that has already announced direct flights from Vizag to Colombo with effect from July 8 has come out with inaugural special return airfares of around Rs.13,000. Tours and Travels Association of Andhra chairman O.Naresh Kumar and president K.Vijay Mohan at a press conference said that the travellers could have free lunch and dinner and one-day city tour in Colombo by paying Rs.1,200 extra and they need not pay Visa charges.
