Convocation of IIM-V held

Artificial intelligence and automation will be the new avenues for jobs said industrialist and for CII chairman Hari S.Bhartia in his inaugural address at the first convocation of IIM-Visakhapatnam on Friday. IIM-V foundation stone was laid at Ghambeeram in 2015 and the campus will come up in an area of 230 acres. IIM-V is currently functioning on the campus of Andhra University. IIM Bangalore is the mentor the IIM-V. Post Graduate Programme, IIM-V Ganesh N.Prabhu said that 41 out of 47 students who passed out had already been recruited.

Constable blamed for woman’s death

The death of a woman, riding pillion on a motorcycle with her husband after she fell off the bike and was run over by a lorry after a police constable allegedly snatched the vehicle key, sparked protests and let to the beating up of the constable on the NH at Autonagar junction today. Sources said that a police team was conducting vehicle check at the junction. The couple Ananda Rao and Padma had gone to a temple at Mindi and were returning home . Ananda Rao was wearing a helmet and was approaching the highway when the constable allegedly snatched the key even as the vehicle was in motion. She fell off the bike and was run over by a lorry. Commissioner of Police T.Yoganand said that action would be taken against those responsible.

Tutor held

A private tutor was arrested by the Arilova Police here on Friday for allegedly taking pictures of a girl student and threatening to post them on social media. The accused, M.Uma Mahesh, an M.Tech graduate used to take tuition for B.Tech students. He managed to take semi-nude pictures of the girl and started harassing her for sexual favours.

Compactor, bins given away

Compactor and compactor bins worth Rs.2.5 crore provided as part of its CSR programme by HPCL were handed over on Thursday. HPCL reached an MoU to provide CSR funds to the tune of Rs.5 crore to GVMC.
