  • Advocates boycott courts:: Members of Visakhapatnam Bar Association will boycott courts on Thursday in protest against the implementation of the Sections 41A of Code of Criminal Procedure. A decision to this effect was taken today. The Union Government has cancelled the amendment to 41A of CrPC but the police are not implementing the rule, allege the advocates. Police officers were given the power to release a person on bail for offences up to seven years without sending him or her for remand to magistrate. In this practice police are resorting to corrupt practices;, Visakhapatnam Bar Association resident J.Pruthivaraj and Forum of Legal Professionals Kuppili Manohar said.
  • Science Day celebrations:: The week-long Science Day celebrations, commemorating Raman affect by Indian physicist Sir Chandrashekhara Venkata Raman concluded here today at Sri Sathya Sai Vidya Vihar. Children spoke about the significant contribution of the world renowned scientist Sir CV Raman and offered rich tributes to him.
  • Art competition:: An art competition for school students was held by Developer Group at Oak Valley Project today. Students from Andhra School displayed their creativity through various art forms. The first prize was bagged by Anitha for creating a wall art and Bharat won the second prize.
  • Inter-college sports meet concludes:: A two-day inter-college sports meet 'Voke-2k18' organized by Integral Institute of Advanced Management concluded today. As many as 29 colleges with over 400 students participated in the sports meet. Vijay Mohan, director of Physical Education, AU, was the chief guest.
  • GVP mourns seer:: The management of Gayatri Vidya Parishad mourned the passing away of Kanchi Seer Sri Jayendra Saraswati. President ASN Prasad and secretary P.Somaraju recalled that the Swami laid foundation for the administrative building of Gayatri Engineering College in 1995.
