  • Kuchipudi student gets award:: S.Harini, student of Kuchipudi Kala Kendram has bagged the young talent award of Visakha Music and Dance Academy. She is doing her BDS final year at GITAM university. The award was presented to her by Telugu film wrier and actor Gollapudi Maruthi Rao as part of the foundation day celebrations of VMDA today.
  • Cultural festival:: A festive atmosphere pervaded Raghu Engineering College as the group of Educational Institutions celebrated the cultural fest ‘Chakravyuh-2018’ today.
  • Medical camp:: A medical camp was held at Visakha Valley School as a part of the annual health programme today. Students from LKG to XI took part in the camp.
  • ‘Drive home safe’ campaign:: ‘We The People’, a voluntary association is organizing ‘drive home safe’ a road safety awareness initiative from Sunday. Corporate executives, entrepreneurs, members of residents’ welfare association and an army of volunteers will be roped in for the year long road safety awareness drive. District Collector Pravin Kumar and ACP (Traffic) K.Prabhakar will inaugurate at Balaji Mangalagiri Chambers, VIP Road at 3.45pm on Sunday.
  • North-eastern States elections-positive vote for BJP:: BJP State president K.Hari Babu has described the election results in the three north-eastern States and the party storming the citadel of the Left parties in Tripura as a glorious chapter in the history of the BJP. Reacting over the election results, he said it was good sign and another step in achieving a ‘Congress mukt Bharat’. BJP Floor leader in the Assembly P.Vishnu Kumar Raju said the election results proved again that whoever aligned with the BJP would emerge victorious.
  • Worker dies in freak mishap:: Nunela Kumar Raja (28), a daily wage earner in LG Polymers was burnt to death in a fire on the plant premises today. The victim was a resident of R.R.V.Puram near Gopalapatnam. He was married recently. The supervisor deployed four workers to gather dry teak leaves on the plant premises and burn them. The flames were fanned by the winds and engulfed Raja of a sudden. The other workers ran to safety a the flames became intense, according to police.
