  • O-scar held:: A medical session-‘O-scar’ was organized by the Indian Association of Dermatologists, Venereologists and Leprologists I the city today. Besides managing acne problem faced by a number of youngsters, the session also focussed on prevention of scars. A team of professors and doctors delivered lecturers on the occasion.
  • Elected:: R.D.Sampath Kumar and B.Hari Venkat Ramana were elected president and secretary of Visakha Forum for Child Rights at the general body meeting held here on Saturday. Prof.Kumar is also the coordinator of NSS activities in Andhra University, while Hari Kumar is the president of Dharni Environment Protection Society. Senior advocate and president of Forum of Legal Professionals Kuppili Muralidhar congratulated them on their election.
  • Government’s move to alienate Bhavani Island is a violation of court order:: Social activist and former IAS officer EAS Sarma today criticised the reported move of the government to alienate Bhavani Island in the Krishna river to a private agency for setting up commercial facilities and described it as imprudent and unacceptable. In a letter to the Chief Secretary, he pointed out that the apex court had in a case directed all the States including Andhra Pradesh on January 28, 2011 not to alienate ecologically sensitive government lands to private parties. He said that in the pat also, the State tried to alienate Bhavani Island to a private party but had to refrain from it as there was a case filed before Lok Ayukta.
