18 gold biscuits recovered from air passenger arrived from Sri Lankan Airways

The Customs officials recovered 18 pieces of gold biscuits weighting about 347 grams were recovered from a person who was identified as Mohammed Ziyard, a Sri Lankan national.

According to sources, the accused arrived by the Sri Lankan Airways and was intercepted at the green channel based on intelligence gathered by the officers of the Air Intelligence Unit at the Airport. On interrogation, the accused confessed to have concealed 18 biscuits in his rectum and stomach.

The officials have taken him to KGH where he ejected the biscuits. Commissioner of Customs D.K.Srinivas said the market value of the gold recovered from the accused is Rs.10,56,126. It may be recalled that Gold smuggler under observation at KGH.
